Held nerve, held serve…one more curve!

The famous scoreline rang-out at the end of the evening at The Emirates, with table-topping Arsenal FC (a k a ‘your No. London Arse’) prevailing in their 37th game of the 38-game English Premier League season, edging a stubborn visitor in Burnley, 1-nil. The Gunners can capture their first league title for 22 yrs. with a win in their final game on Sunday; or if chasers Man City (R.I.P., Pep Guardiola!) somehow manage not to defeat host Bournemouth tomorrow. Clearly, the Arsenal’s claim to year-end hardware is at their own feet! As always, #COYG!

Many happy returns — literally & figuratively!

Happy Birthday (No. 37!) to the gentleman pictured in today’s snapshot lede. He started out in the shipping dep’t. over here at Cynthia Publishing Co., way back when, and it appears he’s done OK for himself since then — no lasting psychological or emotional damage sustained, unlike some of us others who continue to shuffle around in a shellshocked daze! Just kidding — maybe! At any rate, mazel! Yom huledet samecha etc.!

Getting there!

Good afternoon still from the mild & Golden West, where jacaranda season is in-bloom in many parts of the County of Los Angeles in sunny Southern California. Pictured in today’s snapshot lede is the taller of the two trees gracing the front of the Worldwide Home Office Headquarters in Upper Nichols Canyon, just above the flats of Studio City. When the blooms get to this stage of the game, the purple mountains majesty is just about to explode. Come on! One time!

A Philly Institution…

Friday, and for a long time in the Delaware Valley, and then later on via syndication, Friday meant ‘Friday with Frank’ as presented by the gentleman in today’s video lede: Mistah Sid Frank. His flagship station was the old WWDB-FM 96.5, a reactionary talk-radio outlet that undoubtedly was a precursor to the fashy AM radio of the 1990s and beyond. But on Friday night, and a couple of days later (via ‘Sunday with Sinatra’), it was going to be Sid Frank taking down the rhetorical temperature with the immortal sounds of what they used to call ‘easy listening’.
